This week, you’ll meet a woman named Brenda in Kenya. Every day, Brenda must walk five miles, each way, to fetch water for her family. For safety, she makes the walk with other neighbors. This journey includes carrying heavy water jugs up a very steep hill. It takes hours, and is exhausting.
Through this story, your kids will consider their access to water and how they might help with the water crisis around the world.

Pre-video Discussion Questions
- What is the longest walk for water you’ve ever made?
Watch the video
In today’s video, a woman walks 10 miles each day for water.
Post-video Discussion Questions
- If you had to walk 10 miles every day for water, how would you use that water differently than the water that comes out of the faucet at your house?
- With a Maranatha well now in her village, how do you think Brenda’s life has changed? What can she do now since she doesn’t have to make the long journey to collect water every day?
- Each year, Maranatha drills hundreds of water wells around the world to help people like Brenda. But drilling these wells costs money. If you and your family would like to help bring water to people in need, you can join our monthly giving program, Wellspring. Each month, you make a donation of any amount, and the money will go toward drilling brand new wells. It will also help to make sure those wells keep working great for a long time. You can learn more at maranatha.org/wellspring.
