Finding Flip Flops

www.maranatha.org -- This week, follow teenager Kim Kraulik as she sees a need on a mission trip and works to bring change. Kim was volunteering as a Vacation Bible School leader on a Maranatha project when she noticed that many of the children did not have shoes. It bothered her, and she committed herself to doing something about it for her next mission trip. She worked to collect donations from schools, via the local newspaper, and a bank, securing 372 pairs of shoes! Your children will see what a difference someone can make when they identify a challenge and work to enact change. They’ll also consider what problems they have encountered that could use their help.

Pre-video Discussion Questions
- Have you ever seen a problem and took action to help solve it? What was it?
Introduce the Video
In today’s video, a teen volunteer notices kids without shoes, and takes action to help in the future.
Post-video Discussion Questions
- Finding all of those shoes was a lot of work for Kim—why do you think she was so determined to help that she made such a great effort to get so many other people involved?
- The Bible encourages us to do good and share what we have. Hebrews 13:16 says, "Don’t forget to do good and to share what you have because God is pleased with these kinds of sacrifices." What is a problem that you have seen recently that needs your help? What could you do to make a difference? How could you get other people involved in helping?
Prayer Points
- Help us to take action when we see a need.
- Ask kids what they would add to the prayer list.
Did You Know?
- A number of Maranatha’s mission trips feature children’s programs for the local neighborhood kids, and include songs, games, crafts, and snacks.
