This week, travel with us to the country of India, where we’ll meet a lay evangelist named Babloo. Babloo lives in an area dominated by another religion—in fact, Babloo didn’t grow up Christian himself. After becoming a Seventh-day Adventist, Babloo wanted to share the Gospel with everyone he saw, but he was often met with opposition. Besides sharing the Good News with distrustful people, Babloo didn’t have a real church to invite them to—his congregation met in a cow shed.

Your kids will see how Maranatha helped to bring Babloo and his fellow church members out of that shed. They’ll also consider how religious tolerance varies around the world, and what it feels like to share their love of God with non-Christians.

- Sometimes it’s hard to tell people about our love for God. Why do you think that is?
- Imagine talking to people who aren’t Christian, telling them about God’s love, and inviting them to church. What if your church was in a cow shed? How would people react?
- In the Bible, God asked Jonah to travel to the bad city of Nineveh where no one knew about God. You can read about all of the details in the book of Jonah starting in Chapter 1. Jonah didn’t want to go—he was afraid of how the people who lived there would react. So he got on a boat going in a different direction. There was a storm, and the sailors figured it was because of someone on the boat. Jonah explained that he was running from God, so he told the sailors to throw him off the boat and the storm would stop. After being thrown overboard, Jonah was swallowed by a huge fish. He realized he should have listened to God, so he decided to pray inside the fish. God made the fish spit Jonah out, and with new strength, Jonah went on to Nineveh. He told everyone about his God and the people of Nineveh believed in God. Like Jonah, sometimes we may not want to tell others about how much we love God, but just like Babloo and Jonah, we can pray when we’re feeling helpless and God will give us the right words to say.
