Growing the Gospel in Bolivia
20-Jan-2022
This week, come with us to the beautiful South American country of Bolivia. Here, you’ll meet Benedicto and Anacleta Ventura, a husband and wife team committed to spreading the Good News in their area. The Venturas lived in the big city of Cochabamba, but as they helped people in the community of 20 de Octubre and shared the Gospel there, they felt called to live there themselves. The church group they fostered had grown to 35 people, but didn’t have a proper place for worship. For a while they met under a tree. Then they moved to a small shack, but the roof leaked and the children had to meet outside each Sabbath. See how the Venturas never gave up on their dream of a real church building despite all of the challenges, and learn how Maranatha and a group of volunteers from the United States were able to help.

Pre-video Discussion Questions
- If you have ever raised money for something, how did you do it and how did it go?
VIDEO
In today’s video, two church members dedicate their lives to evangelism, and get help from Maranatha along the way.
Post-video Discussion Questions
- What is something so important to you that you would raise money or move to another place for?
- In the Bible, Abraham trusted God’s instruction to leave his homeland and move to a new place. God promised to bless Abraham and grow his family into a country of people, and He did. Even if you don’t move to a different home, how can you trust God, like Abraham and the Venturas, if He calls you to do a new thing in a new way? What might God be calling you to do for Him right now?
Prayer Points
- Help us to trust in Your plan for our lives.
- Ask kids what they would add to the prayer list.
Did You Know?
- Some congregations in Latin America name their church after the day it was started. In today’s story, “20 de Octubre” (October 20) is the name of the town where the congregation was formed; the town itself is named after a special date in Bolivian history.
