Maureen is a 16-year-old single mother. She went to school throughout her childhood until she got pregnant, and at that point her husband told her that she shouldn’t go to school anymore. But Maureen persisted, and with the help of her mother, she eventually returned to study at the Sala Adventist School in Zambia, even though it’s a 6-kilometer walk one-way. Yet the conditions for Maureen and the rest of the other 1,300 students are deplorable.
